Blue Rock Lake

At the edge of Moondarra State Park and next to township of Willow Grove on the Tanjil River, is Blue Rock Lake. Originally the location of the Tanjil Goldfields, the area was dammed to provide reserve water for the Latrobe Valley power industry and to increase domestic water supply. With a surface area of 873 hectares, the dam is a quaint recreational area for light boating, kayaking, and fishing, and is often a destination for Yallourn North folk who are just after a day out. The lake is also home to the Blue Rock Classic triathlon event, and it has several picnic and reserve areas for you and the family to enjoy. So when the sun is shining, pack a lunch, and head over to Willow Grove and ‘Blue Rock’ for a look.
