Help us name the reserves.
The Yallourn North Hall and Recreation Committee are seeking suggestions to name the Yallourn North town oval in Reserve Street, and the Tennis Court Reserve corner at the corner of Gooding Street.
The recommendation is that these areas be given a name which ties in with a historical sporting identity from the township, or a prominent person who was actively involved in the clubs and area historically.
Often visitors to the town get confused with the location of the town’s two ovals, and many mix up the town oval with George Bates Reserve at the top of the hill. By giving the Reserve Street oval an official name, it will help make it easier to identify, and will bring it into line with other sporting precincts in Latrobe City. Also, given work has stated on the improvement of the Tennis Court Reserve and Courts, it’s thought that this area would benefit from an official name also.
The Yallourn North and District Historical Society is also working on the addition of Historical plaques at these areas which will add to existing plaques already in place out front of the town’s churches.
