Peterson’s Lookout

Named after local Naturalist Jim Peterson, the lookout is perched high on the cliffs of Tyers River Gorge just a short drive north west from the Yallourn North township. Several back tracks lead towards the location, however it is most commonly accessed directly from the township of Tyers via Walhalla Tyers Road. The gorge area encompasses the Tyers river weir which formed an important source of water for emerging towns in the region. Its central location within Tyers Park offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscape, wildlife and fauna, and is a sought after place for naturalists, and those of us who just afford mild curiosity.
